We are one of the most precious monkeys living at the northern most area
in this planet.
We sincerely hope Japanese people treat us a bit more kindly.

I am concerned about wild animals especially those counted
as endangered species.
Recently I heard the news nealy ten thousands of Japanese monkeys are
shot to death every year on the ground that they inflict damages on agricultural products.
This news really made me sad.
Before this fact, the number of Japanese monkeys is not much today.
And its number is falling off every year.
This is because they have been losing proper habitats caused by relentless
cutting down of trees by people in the natural forests, in which they used
to inhabit for tens of thousands years.
Therefore some of them have become obliged to rely on the vegetables on
farm lands.
Japanese monkeys are not designated as endangered species yet. But,
if the situation like this goes on further, the time may come when
we are unable to see even a single monkey in Japan, as well as other
endangered species.
In deed this is the last news I wanted to hear.
私は特に 絶滅危惧種 とされている野生動物に関心を
抱いている者なのですが。
最近 農作物に被害を与えるということで 毎年一万匹近いニホンザルが射殺されて
いる というニュースを耳にしました。 これは本当に悲しいニュースです。
ニホンザルの数は今日でも多いとは言えませんし、 その数は年々減少しているのです。
これは、 もともと彼らが何万年も棲息してきた天然林の木々を 人間達に無情に
切り払われて、 正当な生息地を段々と失ってきたからなのです。 ですから、 彼らのうち幾ばくかは農地の野菜
に頼らざるを得なくなってしまっているのです。
ニホンザルは今はまだ 絶滅危惧種 とされていません。
しかしこんな状態がこれからも続けば 他の絶滅危惧種とともにニホンザル
を見ることもなくなるかもしれません。
全く耳にしたくないニュースでした。
ボク達は世界で最も北で生きる世界的にとても貴重な猿なのです。
